The aim of the course is to analyze film adaptations of selected works of American literature. In addition to discussing the general principles of how the book-to-movie conversion process works, we will focus on specific case studies. The analysis of novels and their film adaptations will enable us to map the specifics of individual filmmakers' approaches to the texts in question and to better comprehend them. This is only possible if we consider a number of relevant contexts that enter the adaptation process at a given historical moment.
