E-learning support for the online version of Communication skills training.

///

Communication skills training is a space where you can work on your communication skills. We attempt to improve abilities such as presenting messages, being able to listen actively and giving adequate feedback – in other words, we help you learn to communicate better. We develop these abilities by having you present prepared speeches, give various kinds of feedbacks and by testing out some techniques of theatre improvisation. Every student is involved throughout the whole lesson.

Everybody trains something different. Some people work on getting rid of stage fright in order to be more relaxed in front of an audience. Some people experiment with new forms that could catch the listeners' attention. Others look for a way to simply explain the complicated ideas of their diploma theses. Everyone starts at a different level and consequently the final picture is different for each one. The course is not about comparing with yourself others, but about working on your individual skills with the support of an open group.

Prepared speech: You know what you want to say and what to focus on. Simple situation - just you and your audience. No powerpoint, no microphones, no distraction - 5 minutes.

Improvisation: You don't know what you are going to say and you are ok with it. Take courage and start to speak on given topic. Calm down, orientate yourself and say something meaningful.

Feedback: Telling your colleague the way you perceived his or her performance. Ability to pinpoint what impressed you or had an impact on you and why. Explaining tactfully but explicitly, what didn't work for you and suggesting improvement. Supporting group learning.
